Pros and Cons of a Joint Bachelor/Bachelorette Party

Couples getting married today are exploring some non-traditional ideas, among them joint bachelor/bachelorette parties.  These ideas can work if done well, but require some thought and planning to make them work.  Here are some pros and cons to a joint bachelor and bachelorette party.

Pro: Everyone Can Hang Out Together

You’re getting married, and you will each have your own set of friends in your wedding party. While you might have similar friends in common, there might also be those that have never met. Having a joint bachelor and bachelorette party is the perfect opportunity to get both groups together. Plan activities that are both fun, and will help break the ice to let your group get to know each other better.

Con: Too Many People Can Be Tough to Plan

Having a joint party may result in everyone’s varied interests clashing and settling on a schedule that suits everyone. While it is your day and your party, you also want to make sure that everyone is happy joining you for the party. As a couple, you and your spouse should agree on a common party theme and activities. If you can’t, then perhaps a joint party is not the best idea.

Pro: You Can Save Money

Saving money is a big reason to consider hosting joint bachelor and bachelorette parties. Weddings are expensive. Why not try and save money if you can? You can still have a fantastic party for both of you and still save money.

Con: A Joint Party Is Less Personal

The original point of bachelor and bachelorette parties is for the couple to spend time with their individual bridal parties. If you have a joint party, you may lose time with just your friends because everyone is together and you will need to split your time among everyone. If you do the joint party route, try and plan ahead, and make sure that you have time for just your group as well.

Pro: A Joint Party Can Lead to Lasting Memories

Events leading up to your big day are about making memories. Special memories can happen together at your joint bachelor and bachelorette parties. You and your joint wedding parties will have special moments, and hopefully make memories that will last for years to come.
