5 Tips For Looking and Feeling Your Best in Wedding Photos

Preparing for your wedding photos can be an exciting time if you don’t get too bogged down with the stress. Your wedding photos involve not only how you look, but also how you feel.  Here are a few tips for looking your best and feeling your best in wedding photos.

#1 – Relax

You’re going to be thinking about many things during your photo shoot, so relax and try to put them out of your mind and concentrate on the shoot. By relaxing your expression will be more natural and appear less staged.

If you’re not comfortable in front of the camera, be sure to tell your photographer and they will help set the scene to make it more natural. Some photographers will use a countdown before the picture. Discuss this with them as it can make some people more nervous.

#2- Find a Photographer You Can Trust

Feeling your best lies with your selection of the photographer as well. You need to find someone who will make you feel comfortable in front of the camera and help you set the right mood for your photoshoot. Comb through their website to see if their photo philosophy is comfortable for you. Also view their gallery to make sure their photo style is what you want.

Try to talk to them personally before scheduling a formal interview. At that interview discuss your wants and confirm both you and the photographer are in agreement. Remember the photographer has much more experience with wedding photography than you do, so now that you are comfortable, trust them to make your shoot something memorable.

#3 – Remember to Stand Up Straight

If you’re feeling anxious or nervous, it may impact your posture and how you present yourself. Good posture will result in photos that show your confidence and highlight your wedding attire. Keep your back straight and your shoulders back.  Take a few breaths before your photo to relax your body.

#4 – Empty Your Pockets Before Taking Photos

In today’s world, we always seem to have cellphones, keys, and wallets in our pockets. Having something in your pockets will detract from the tailored look of your clothes.  While your photographer should remind you about this before you start, it’s good practice to do it before you pose for your photos.

#5 – Wear Natural Makeup

While your photographer can do wonders with color correction and editing, you want to minimize the post shoot editing. The key is to select your make-up to give you the most natural look for your your skin tone. Meet with your makeup stylist beforehand and come up with different looks that will  work for you and make you look natural on camera.

This is especially true for toners, bronzers, and self-tanners you may find on the market as they can sometimes take on an orange tint on camera. Overusing glitter and lotions will also not be best for photos because it may make you look to shiny. Natural make-up will help you look and feel confident, and will help your skin look healthy.
