5 Self Care Tips For Your Wedding Week

The week of your wedding is an exciting time…but it’s also often pretty stressful. Thankfully, there are steps you can take that can make you feel like you and let you hold onto your sanity as you get ready to walk down the aisle. This advice is all to keep you feeling your best on your wedding day!

1) Keep Up Your Gym Routine

Whether it’s due to a New Year’s resolution, you decided to start hitting the gym for the wedding, or you’ve always been active, it’s a good idea to keep up with your gym routine the week of your wedding. Just staying with your normal weekly routine as much as you can will help make you feel a lot more normal and centered. Even better, the physical activity can be great for helping fight off nerves and anxiety and no one will expect you to answer the phone while you’re at the gym!

In terms of workouts, it’s best to pick something that you find soothing. For some people this might mean taking part in a yoga class or going for a long jog on the treadmill. Something to keep in mind is that this isn’t the time to push yourself. You don’t want to risk an injury when you’re about to get married!

2) Eat Well and Stay Hydrated

It’s pretty normal to feel nervous about your wedding. Unfortunately, one side effect of nerves for a lot of people is not wanting to eat. Try and fight this off you can as you’ll need to eat well to have energy! Focus on simple, easy to digest foods if you’re really struggling to get appropriate nutrition in. You will also want to make sure that you drink plenty of water! This will make you physically feel much better and will make sure that your skin is glowing on the big day!

3) Ask For Help!

Delegating tasks and asking for help probably isn’t what comes to mind when you think about wedding self care, but it’s probably one of the best things you can do for your sanity. At a certain point, you will need to hand over control to someone else so you don’t get overwhelmed. This might mean your maid of honor, your mom, or your wedding planner or someone else close to you who can handle answering last minute questions.

You will also want to keep in mind that you may need to ask for help if you are going the DIY route for your wedding. If it’s three days before your wedding and you still need to assemble centerpieces, it’s a good idea to call in your bridal party and work together on projects so you don’t get overwhelmed.

4) Don’t Experiment With New Skin Care!

You might be tempted to try out a new skin product or an at home facial the week of your wedding. While prioritizing your skin care is an excellent idea, now it’s the time to do something new. You don’t know if you might have an adverse reaction to an ingredient and the last thing you need is a rash or breakout! Also, many skincare products will make your skin purge which, while great for your health, is best to get out of the way well before your wedding.

Instead, just keep with your normal routine. If there is a special step that you’ve tried before, like a favorite sheet mask, bring it out and enjoy an evening of pampering, just don’t do any experiments!

5) Go For A Manicure and Pedicure

The pampering of getting your nails professional done might be exactly what you need to survive the leadup to your wedding! Bonus: your nails will look great for all those pictures your photographer will take of your rings and you holding your bouquet! This bit of self care might change for different people.

If you need a little alone time with no one but your nail technician, it can be a good idea to go alone. You might want an intimate afternoon with someone you love, like your mom, sister, or a close friend. On the other hand, it can be fun to make a party of it! You could rent out the nail salon with your bridal party and treat it as a party. This ritual can be whatever you need it to be to relax before your wedding day!
