Playful Activities for Your Wedding Reception

The advantage of modern day weddings is that the sky’s the limit with how you want your day to look and feel. Even though many wedding traditions have stood the test of time, there are always new activities being added to the event. Take your wedding reception for example. You don’t just have to have a dinner, speeches, and dancing. There are so many new and exciting activities you can add for guest to do to keep them entertained. Here are some ideas of fun things you can do to make your wedding reception stand out and give guests options with what to do with their time!

Get with the program

Want to keep your guest entertained the moment they sit down at your wedding? Consider upgrading your wedding program. On top of having the usual itinerary for the wedding, names of your wedding party and family, and a thank you consider adding trivia and games. A wedding themed word search or crossword! A playlist of songs that fit you as a couple. Even trivia questions! Let your guests get to know your journey as a couple and have fun while they do it.

A Temporary Tattoo Bar

This is a great option for kids and kids at heart attending your wedding: set-up a station with temporary tattoos! Whether your pick designs that are child friendly or that match your theme is up to you. You can even find shops on Etsy that can customize tattoos specific to your day. Plus it is so easy to set up. All you need are the tattoos (preferably individually cut), a bowl of water, and sponges to help with application.  Add a cute sign and ta-da! You’re guest will be sure to remember this non-traditional addition to your wedding day!

Lawn Games

You may have already attended weddings with games like bean bag toss (corn hole) or croquet in the past. Why not take things up a notch? Take all the games you loved growing-up and make them bigger. Use rope to make a giant tic-tac-toe grid and large wooden letters for the “x’s” and “o’s”. Or use big blocks of wood to create a giant jenga set! Sit down with your fiance and come up with a list of the games you love and then make them bigger!

Your wedding is your day! If you are feeling playful and fun, let your day follow that theme. These activities are sure to be memorable and entertaining for all.
