When planning your wedding, one of the first things you will do is look for a wedding venue. With all the wedding venues out there, it can be a challenge to know which venue works for you and your needs. Here are 5 tips to keep in mind when looking for a wedding venue.
Budget
When looking at wedding venues, cost or budget will be a key thing to consider. Once you know your budget, you can begin to look for venues that meet your budget and can provide the options you’re looking for. If you get married in the “off season” or on a Sunday, it could help keep the cost down. Keep in mind that venues have a list of standard services they include and can usually provide any other services you might want for a negotiated price adder.
Be Sure the Wedding Venue Aligns With Your Vision
When you start planning your wedding, you will have a vision of what you want your wedding day to look like. Make sure the venue has the look you want and you feel comfortable in the surroundings. For example, if you’re going with a nature theme, consider getting married in a park, backyard, or some kind of rustic setting.
Keep the Location in Mind
If you have guests coming in from out of town or if you’re having a destination wedding, you will want to consider your location. How close is the venue to the nearest airport, are the hotels and accommodation adequate, is the venue easy to find, and what is the parking situation like? If your dream venue is a little off the beaten path, and it’s easy to get lost, make sure you have easy directions, or provide transportation for your guests. If you have guests with disabilities, ensure the venue has the accommodation they will need to enjoy your wedding and reception. Keep these questions in mind as you’re researching your wedding venues.
Weather Related Backup Plan
If the venue is outside, ensure there is a backup plan. While you can check the weather for your wedding day as it gets closer, when you originally book your venue, you won’t know what the weather will be. Inclement weather can pop up at any time so you need to have a backup plan to accommodate your guests. Make sure you discuss this when researching venues as they should be able to offer advice.
Work With a Wedding or Event Planner
If you’re doing a destination wedding, it’s a good idea to work with a wedding planner or event coordinator. These are people that know the ins and outs of the area, and they will know what venues can support your requirements and requests. They will keep you within budget.
