4 Creative Date Ideas

Whether it’s a first date or you’ve been together for years and are trying to get back in the habit of date night, you want to make a good impression. Sure, you could do dinner and a movie again, but sometimes you want to do something more memorable than that. Something neither of you have ever tried before. Coming up with creative date ideas can be a challenge, especially when your relationship has gotten into a routine over the years. Still, it’s worth it for the satisfaction of seeing your significant other’s look of delighted surprise. Here are a few of our favorite unconventional date ideas to get your creative juices going.

Camping for Two

Have you ever wanted to shut out the rest of the world for a bit and just have some quality time with your significant other? If you have time to get away, camping could make for a terrific date night. You can pitch a tent together, go fishing, or just lie down underneath the stars. It allows you not only a date night that’s a little different than the conventional, and it gives you peace and quiet. Unfortunately, you can’t stay at the campsite forever, but it will offer you both a nice, and possibly necessary, escape.

Photobooth Hunt

Not every selfie has to be taken on the phone, you know. Many dates include stopping at a photobooth you see along the way and taking some pictures with silly faces, but few dates involve actively searching for photobooths. Why not make a game of it? Pack some props like silly glasses or an old wig. You can use photobooth.net to search for photobooths in your area and hunt them all down. At the end of the date, you’ll have had a fun night doing something that you don’t often do, and you’ll have plenty of silly pictures to remember it.

Take a Class Together

Nothing helps you to bond like learning something together. Instead of struggling to decide where to eat, take a cooking class together. Try something new with a pottery class or dance class. If you can, find something that plays to both of your interests. However, it can be just as fun to choose something neither of you would usually try, like an improv acting class. Can’t afford to sign up for a class? You can learn everything on the internet, nowadays. Sometimes it can be just as fun to stay home, pull up a YouTube video and bumble through it together.

Take a Roadtrip

If you have the time, you can take a long road trip to see whatever sights you’ve never gotten around to seeing. But if you both have work the next day, you can still enjoy a miniroadtrip of a date. Get in the car and just drive. You can make up the rules as you go along. Maybe you’ll take every left turn until you hit a dead end. Maybe you have to stop every twenty five minutes and go inside the nearest shop or restaurant. Or maybe the one in the passenger’s seat is in charge of deciding where you go, without telling the driver in advance. Even if you’ve lived in an area your entire life, you can look at it with new eyes and create an adventure for the two of you to experience.

There’s a lot of pressure to make a date interesting, but sometimes the key is to think outside the box, but not worry about it too much. As long as you take some time for each other and enjoy each other’s company, you’ll be sure to find something new and fun to try together. What are some of your favorite date ideas?
