What To Look For In a Wedding Dress Store

It’s time for your dress shopping journey to begin! The first step is to decide on what store you will choose to purchase your gown from. In this article, we will explore what to look for in a wedding dress store when planning for your wedding day.

Willingness to Take Requests

Just because the shop you are visiting doesn’t have the brand or style you want in stock, this doesn’t mean they can’t get it for you! Always try to find a shop that is willing to take requests when it comes to accommodating your style needs and wants. Try to have a consultation prior to trying on dresses where you can show your salesperson a photo of the styles you are looking for. This will make the appointment go a lot more smoothly and save you a lot of time. Remember that your consultant is here to help you! You deserve to find the dress of your dreams, even if the shop has to pull a few strings to get you exactly what you want.

Find a Shop That Takes Appointments

Try to avoid walk-in appointments at all costs. This will make your visit feel rushed and can make the experience feel unnecessarily stressful. Always try to make an appointment so that you can have one-on-one attention from your consultant. Bonus points if you can book during the week! Bridal shops are known to me most crowded on Saturdays and Sundays.

Don’t Feel As Though You Have To Be There Day 1 Of a Big Sale

Oftentimes, bridal shops will have sales to declutter their inventory and make room for new styles. This can be a great way to find a great dress at a low cost. However, many other brides and their families will likely have similar ideas. So, try to avoid the first day of a dress sale. The shop will likely be very crowded and this can make the experience stressful. There will still be great styles left on day 2 or 3 of the sale!

Always Read The Reviews

Always read the reviews of the bridal shops you are considering prior to booking your appointment. This way, you will be able to read about the experiences other brides and their families have had at the shop. You can also explore top-rated consultants that you can book with!

Find a Shop That Does In-House Alterations

If you want to make your shopping experience easier, try to find a shop that does in-house alterations. This will make the try-on and purchase process faster, as the bridal shop will be your go-to for all things dress-wise. This way, you won’t have to get alterations at a different location. The seamstress will be familiar with the material and style of the dress as well, so you can have confidence in knowing that they know what they are doing.

Always Visit Multiple Stores

Before committing to a shop to purchase at, visit multiple stores so that you know you are making the right decision.  According to a WeddingWire survey, 50 percent of brides visit anywhere from two to five stores. Every store has something unique to offer. From dress brands and styles to expert consultants, everything differs from shop to shop. To get the most out of your search, always try to diversify the stores you visit.
