5 Unique Wedding Reception Ideas

Wedding receptions are a fun celebration for you and your guests. Today, couples are trying to incorporate more unique wedding reception experiences for their guests. Here are five unique wedding reception ideas.

Have Fun with Your Seating Chart

Traditionally, there will be a seating chart on a board where guests will be able to find their seats. During your reception, find a fun and unique seating chart idea that goes with your theme.

For example, if you’re having an outdoor wedding, or a plant theme, consider a seating chart with potted plants. If you have a culinary theme, use wooden boards such as a cutting board, or a pizza stone. Not only is thinking outside the box with your seating chart a great idea for you, it adds another element of fun for your guests.

Have Guests Submit Song Requests

A band or DJ is common entertainment for weddings. Add an interactive element for you and your guests by having the guests request their favorite songs. You can submit the requests when talking with your band or DJ beforehand based on guests’ feedback or let your guests request their songs live.  The song requests are fun for your guests because it adds a special moment for them, just make sure you get them on the dance floor when their song gets played.

Have A Cocktail Wall or Self-Serve Bar

Your cocktail hour can have fun and unique experiences as well. If you have a signature cocktail, have them  prominently on the bar as guests enter the reception area as they may want to try one early on. Also include some other beverages as well (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) for your guests.  A self-serve bar is a unique idea as guests can serve themselves  and you can  possibly save money on a bartender.

Have Fun With Unique Food Stations

Guests are looking to try different kinds of food when they attend your wedding. A hot pretzel station is a great idea for cocktail hour (especially with a self-serve bar); include different dips and sauces. A fast-food station is also fun for your cocktail hour, and you can use multiple restaurants for catering. An ice cream or gelato cart for dessert is another great way to please guests of all ages. Be sure to include an ice cream or gelato toppings bar. A cotton candy station is not only unique but will also please kids and adults.

Keep Your Theme in Mind Even With Your Guest Book

A wedding guest book is something that couples may not think of. If you’re having a sports themed wedding, have guests sign baseballs, footballs, soccer balls, or hockey pucks. For a nature-themed wedding, have guests sign terracotta pots for your plants.

A coffee table guest book is another fun way to include something you love, and it can be displayed after your wedding, especially if you pair their signatures with their photos from the wedding. If you two love to travel, have the guests sign postcards.
